According to the county by county breakdown of Live Register Figures Tulla saw the biggest falloff in the numbers signing – 51 fewer people sought some form of social welfare aid in March-  compared to just 20 in February.

There were also falls in Ennistymon Ennis and Kilrush with the figures down by 50,47 and  43  respectively.

Overall, there are currently 10, 623 people signing on across Clare -compared to 10, 814 in February – a drop of 191 in the month- but a fall of only ten people- when compared to the same month last year.

And with increased anecdotal evidence from various GAA clubs and other sectors across the county on the large number of young people now seeking work aboard – its believed that much of the reduction in the Live Reg numbers is down to immigration rather than new local job creation.
