€500k For Clare Social Housing

The government has announced that just over half a million euro is to be spent to provide new social housing in Clare.

The money will be given to Clare County Council, who will buy a total of six homes for those on waiting lists.

It forms part of a 32 million euro national plan to buy 260 properties for those waiting for housing, and for people living with disabilities.

With 110,000 people on the housing list nationwide, Minister for Social Housing and MidWest TD Jan O’Sullivan admits this won’t make a significant difference, but insists the government is doing the best it can
