A 7.7 million euro social housing development announced for Ennistymon has been described as a significant first step towards tackling waiting lists in the area.

Housing Minster Darragh O’Brien has signed off on the project, which will consist of 30 homes, at Glen North, Ennis Road, Ennistymon.

The development will be made up of a variety of five-bed, four-bed, three-bed and two-bed properties, though no timeline has yet been set out for the project, which has yet to go through the planning process.

There has been increased demand for social housing since the onset of the pandemic and Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Shane Talty has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that this announcement shows a commitment at local authority and Government level.
