An eight-year old boy injured in a quad bike accident in East Clare on Thursday night has passed away in hospital.
Ultan Hayes was travelling on the bike with his father near the family home in Whitegate when the incident occurred at around 9:10.

He was rushed to University Hospital Limerick, and later transferred to Temple Street Children's Hospital in Dublin, where he lost his fight for life this evening.
His father was also treated in hospital for injuries which were not serious.
A forensic examination of the scene has taken place, and Gardaí are investigating, but say they are treating it as a sad and tragic accident.
