It’s claimed that Clare’s Recreation and Sports Strategy has given a significant economic boost to the county.

An evaluation of the strategy, which runs from 2009 to 2011, has found that it 85% of it’s targets have been met, helping Clare become an ‘active county’
A number of events have been brought to the county as a result of this strategy, among them the Brian Boru Tri Challenge in Killaloe/Ballina and the Sky Ride Etape Hibernia.
Also attracted here was the An Post Tour de Burren cycling event, which John Sweeney of Clare Sports Partnership says had a significant impact.
