COVID Crisis Takes Its Toll On Clare Car Sales

There were just 12 new cars sold in Clare for the month of April.

The figures have been released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry, and demonstrate the impact of COVID-19 on motor traders.

Last April, 137 cars were sold in Clare and the 91% drop here is actually less than the national drop of 96%.

In all of Ireland, only 344 new cars were sold in April.

The industry is now hoping for a boost when the ‘202’ plates come into effect from July and SIMI Director General Brian Cooke says the industry is ready for social restrictions to be eased.
