As of the end of 2017, the average income per person in Clare was €25,848 per year.

This figure recovered strongly from the low of around €22,200 in 2011 but has yet to reach the 2008 pre-recession figure of just shy of €27,000.

In terms of disposable income, the average figure for this county is €18,756 – this being around €2,000 less than the Midwest figure of €20,623, which itself is just €100 shy of the nationwide average.

Overall, the CSO data has revealed that the total household income for all of county Clare in 2017 sat at €3.1 billion, which is the lowest figure in the Midwest region.

Meanwhile, Dublin’s dominance continues to be felt in terms of incomes, with those living in the capital having around 15% more disposable income on average than any other area in the county.
