Clare’s Independent TD fears it’s unlikely that Molex will keep any presence in the Midwest region, saying their decision to close is due to factors outside of our control.
The electronics solutions firm broke the news to its 500 staff in the Shannon Free Zone on Tuesday that it will be closing by the end of 2020.
An emergency meeting was chaired by the Jobs Minister in Shannon yesterday, in which a steering group was established to oversee the closure and support the workers.

Clare’s Fianna Fáil TD has expressed hope that in these engagements, Molex may decided to keep a smaller number of workers but Dr Michael Harty isn’t convinced.
