Efforts to breed Rare Eagles in Clare have failed

There’s bitter disappointment in East Clare after it emerged that efforts to breed a rare breed of eagle near Mountshannon have failed

Speaking on Clare Fm’s Morning Focus in the last hour, Reintroduction Project Manager with the Golden Eagle Trust Dr. Alan Mee said it appears that the birds have abandoned the nest, and that the attempt has failed, close to the point of hatching.

It was announced late last month, that the young white-tailed sea eagles had bred and chosen an island on Lough Derg as their nesting site – it was the first time this had occurred in over 100 years.
