Gardai in West Clare are investigating the circumstances of a house fire in which a man in his 80s died last night.
The blaze broke out at a house in Knockerra, where the man was living alone, at around 10pm on Tuesday.
Neighbours spotted the fire and alerted the emergency services.

Gardai say the scene’s been preserved for a technical examination and the coroner has been notified.
The cause of the fire hasn’t yet been established.
The man is said to be well know and well liked locally.
