Element Six Workers Anger over CEO Letter

Workers at Element Six have reacted angrily to a letter sent to all employees by the CEO which outlines that if a resolution to the ongoing dispute cannot be reached, the plant may close.

The letter from Cyrus Jilla urges workers in Shannon to agree to the sustainability plan which aims to save 163 jobs.

Mr Jilla, who is based in London, said if there was a lack of co-operation with any wind-down operation, the company would consider if it could afford to meet its pension liabilities.

However, workers have voted for industrial action over the redundancy deal on offer which unions say must be dealt with before anything else can be discussed.

SIPTU’s Mary O’Donnell says the sustainability plan will mean changes to work practices
