SIPTU and TEEU workers at Element Six will vote on plans to save 163 jobs at the Shannon Company today.
It follows consultation between management and unions last week following the company’s decision to accept Labour Court recommendations aimed at ensuring the future of manufacturing at the long established industrial diamond plant.
Under the Shannon sustainability plan, 207 workers will be made redundant with payments of four weeks salary per year of service capped at 78 weeks.
The company had originally announced plans to lay off 370 people prior to the Labour Courts negotiations, and Pat Keane of the TEEU says the long running matter should be resolved this week
