The alarm was raised and three units of the fire brigade from Kilrush were sent to the scene. An additional appliance from Kilkee station was also requested to assist.
ESB staff and local authority fire fighters spent around two hours tackling the fire.

Nobody was injured in the incident and its understood no damage was caused.

An ESB spokesman confirmed that a ‘small fire' broke out on a mill feeder at the facility and that it was ‘standard procedure’ to alert the fire brigade.
