The incoming president of the ASTI and Ennis teacher Jack Keane has rejected claims by the former president of UL who claims teachers are overpaid and under worked.
Dr Ed Walsh has called for a root and branch review of teachers’ conditions, but they’ve been defended by Jack Keane, who says the education system here is comparable with other European countries.
Dr Walsh has also claimed that teachers here don’t work enough hours, but this has been denied by Jack Keane.
