Ennis Auctioneer Says Supply To Be Issue In Housing Market For ‘Years’ To Come

A prominent Ennis auctioneer believes a lack of supply will continue to be an issue in the housing market here for ‘years’ to come.

It comes as new figures reveal 679 applications for the Help To Buy scheme were accepted by Revenue here last year, a figure that’s increased seven fold since 2017.

The expanded scheme rate of €30,000 is due to run until the end of 2021, though looks likely to be extended beyond that.

But buyers could still find it hard to get a home, as Cormac O Sullivan, of DNG O Sullivan Hurley Auctioneers in Ennis, believes supply difficulties will remain in the market for at least two to three years.
