It’s hoped the visits of The British Queen, Barack Obama, Lord of the Dance along with the London Olympics could generate a significant economic spin off for Clare.
The idea was one of several thrashed out between local business representatives and the county’s four TDs as part of efforts to sustain and create jobs across the county.
As well as tourism the proposals put to the deputies concerned various methods of removing the barriers to new business start ups in the county as well as a better exploitation of the abundant renewable energy resources in Clare.
Member of the Ennis Development Forum and local businesswoman Aoife Madden says the group, along with Clare’s Government representatives, say Shannon airport should capitalise on major tourism events in the short term.
