Ennis Councillors are hoping that President Michael D. Higgins will save Town Councils.
The Council is to write to the President to ask him not to sign the Local Government Bill, which will include the abolition of Town Councils, when it reaches his office.

Representatives in the county town say they’re hopeful that the President will support their fight against this move, given his praise for Town Councils at an Association of Municipal Authorities of Ireland event last year.
