Ennis Campaigner Warns Of Housing Policy’s Impact On Women

The Housing crisis is impacting on the safety of women suffering domestic violence, with shelters at full capacity.

SAFE Ireland says that every year, 4000 women and children are being housed in emergency refuges, and aren't counted as homeless.

The charity says the homeless figures are underestimated as a result, and that service managers have never seen it so bad for women and children.

CEO of SAFE Ireland, Ennis woman Sharon O'Halloran says vulnerable women are having to stay in refuges far too long.
