Ennis Councillor Fails In Bid To Secure Seanad Seat

An Ennis Councillor has failed in her bid to secure a Seanad seat. 

Mary Howard, who was nominated by the Drama League of Ireland, was eliminated in the the 11th count for the Cultural and Educational Panel last evening, having received a vote multiple of 28,000.

Counting continues today for the Agricultural panel for which Maghera Councillor Pat Hayes has been nominated.

While later in the week, outgoing Fine Gael Senators Tony Mulcahy and Martin Conway, their party colleague Councillor John Crowe and President of Ógra Fianna Fáil, Ennisman Eoin Neylon will learn their fate.

Councillor Mary Howard, who could still be nominated by the Taoiseach, has admitted that her fight for seat in the upper chamber of the Oireachtas was always going to be an uphill battle.
