Ennis Councillors are calling on the Minister for Communications to activate the European Hotline for missing children in Ireland.
Eleven – six thousand (11-6000) is the european wide number to dial to forward information relating to missing children across the EU.
However, the hotline service, which was agreed upon three years ago in Brussels, has yet to be rolled out in Ireland.
Labour councillor Paul O’Shea says the government and Minister Eamon Ryan need to provide the service as a matter of urgency.
