Ennis Councillors Express Concern Over Vacant Businesses

A meeting of Ennis Councillors has heard that the amount of unoccupied business premises on Parnell Street in the town is "not good enough."

The Council is expecting to publish a feasability study on options to rejuvenate the area in the coming months, including a proposed roof there, but calls are being made for swift action in advance of the Fleadh in August.

Both local officials and elected representatives have accepted that the area needs to be revitalised, and one Councillor thinks temporary or pop-up shops and cafes could be one short-term solution

Barefield Councillor Ann Norton thinks they could be successful if opened during the summer and during the Fleadh in August.
