Flood relief works are to be carried out in one of the areas of Ennis worst affected during last November’s crisis
Ennis Town Council has signed a contract with a Galway based firm to construct the Aughanteeroe Flood Alleviation Scheme
Works on the site on the Gort Road are to commence next Monday, at a cost of 250 thousand euro, and are expected to be completed within four months.

The section was originally included in a larger drainage scheme for the lower section of the river fergus, but was separated out to advance the works.
Works on that area, from Bank Place bridge to Doora bridge are expected to commence before the end of the year.
