Ennis Flood Works Set To begin

Work to prevent any repeat of last year’s Major Flooding in Ennis is to get underway on the Gort Road today.

A Galway based firm is commencing construction on the Aughanteeroe Flood Alleviation Scheme, having signed contracts with Ennis Town Council last week

The project will cost 250 thousand euro and is expected to be completed within four months.

Last November’s floods caused major damage to homes in estates along the Gort Road with many housholders force to leave their homes for weeks and it’s hoped these works will prevent similar problems in future.

Flood releif work on a further section of the river from Bank Place bridge to Doora bridge are expected to begin later this year.
