Irish rail say they have plans to further increase services on the Western Rail Corridor, as the first anniversary of the route’s opening is celebrated today

The line from Ennis to Galway has been in operation since last March, and officials say they’re satisfied with the number of passengers using the line.
In the next months, an extra evening service from Galway to Ennis is set to come on board, while it’s hoped that a stop at Crusheen will be in operation in 2012.
Irish Rail spokesman Barry Kenny admits there have been difficulties, but says the line has enjoyed a successful year
