Ennis has missed out on the hosting of the 2012 Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann with the event set to be held in Cavan for the third time in a row next year.
The decison was announced at a cermony in Dublin today and comes as a blow to the county towns’ hopes of staging the event for the first time since 1977.

It was hoped the event could have been a huige economic boost to Clare with an estomated 250,000 people expected to attend the world famous celebration of irish music and culture.
