Ennis Musical Society has been saved from the brink of collapse after an anonymous donor and donations from the public helped pay off their 14,000 euro debt.
The group had received a strong response to their call for public support, and following an interview on Clare FM, and the help of hotelier Allen Flynn, they were put in touch with an anonymous donor who agreed to meet their 6,000 euro shortfall.
The group was left with a large bill after their planned musical in March was cancelled due to coronavirus.

Chairperson of the society, Rachael Culligan, says they’re overjoyed they can start anew.
