Ennis is in the running to be named the friendliest place in Ireland.
The county town is one of the three nominated for the award by Retail Excellence Ireland, and faces competition from Navan in Meath and Gorey, Co. Wexford.

In early August, retail experts undertook ‘Mystery Shops’ at Ennis businesses where they judged customer service, store appearance, internal layout and staff helpfulness.
The town scored in the top 3 and will find out if it's secured the prize at a ceremony in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Galway, on 9 November.
