Parishioners in Ennis have expressed their full confidence in The Bishop of Killaloe after he admitted he didn’t contact gardai while investigating sexual abuse allegations against two priests in the Dublin archdiocese 20 years ago.
In a statement to Clare Fm yesterday, Dr Willie Walsh said he was asked by the Archbishop of Dublin to act as one of three judges involved in the case of paedophile priest William Carney , and another case which can’t be revealed for legal reasons.
Dr Walsh said he was informed the gardai and the diocese were in contact but if the same situation arose now he would contact the gardai personally and that he always carries a sense of sadness regret and shame.
