Ennis Residents Assured Fire At Drumcliffe Plant Had No Impact On Water Suppy

Residents in Ennis are being reassured that a fire at the main treatment plant overnight had no impact on the town's water supply.

Emergency services were alerted after a fire broke out at the facility in Drumcliffe around 3.30 this morning.

The plant, which supplies drinking water to over 30,000 consumers in Ennis Town and its environs, was quickly shut down while fire crews located and dealt with what's now believed to have been an electrical fire.

Irish Water says water supply was not affected as customers continued to be serviced from a reservoir attached to the plant.

Full production recommenced at the plant at 6.30 this morning and will be increased over the course of the day to replenish supplies at the reservoir.
