It’s been confirmed that construction is to get underway on the long-awaited Ennis South Flood Relief Scheme.
Minister of State for Flood Protection Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran is in the county town today to give the 4.71 million euro development the go-ahead.
The project aims to alleviate persistent flooding effecting many parts of Ennis and will see defences installed in Clonroadmore, Ballybeg and Clareabbey.

The scheme is several years behind schedule but Clare’s Junior Minister, Fine Gael’s Pat Breen, says the hope is that work will now begin quickly.
