Ennis traders are to present their views on pedestrianisation plans for Christmas later.
Ennis Town Council has invited submission regarding plans to make O’Connell Street and Abbey Street car-free during the main shopping hours on December 18th and 24th in a bid to boost Christmas shopping.
Similar measures were due to be tried out for a six month period until Christmas, but were stopped just six weeks into those trials following complaints from local businesses of a major fall off in trade.
Many shoppers and members of the public are in favour of two car free days in December though, with 91% of visitors to the clare.modus.ie website agreeing that pedestrianisation should be tried again.
