Ennis Traffic Wardens are calling on Ennis Town Council to support and protect them as their ongoing dispute over security reached industrial action.
Three out of four local wardens have been removed from the council’s payroll since Friday, and began picketing outside Clare County Council Headquarters last evening, following a work to rule action which ended up at the Labour Court.
Ennis Town Council says the workers rejected the Court’s recommendations and were not carrying out their full duties but SIPTU is demanding payment of a security allowance due to increased duties and the dangers associated with the job.
One traffic warden, Martin Ryan told Clare FM the job has become much more hazardous
