Enva has confirmed it was the company which had sought outside assistance in the destruction of a batch of chemicals disposed of by the Army Bomb Disposal unit.
The firm, which has a facility at the Smithstown Industrial Estate, requested help regarding what it describes as a ‘small’ amount of waste chemicals collected from schools and state laboratories in recent years.

An Enva spokesman has told Clare FM that these were not considered unstable and were being stored securely at it’s premises, but were deemed unsuitable for disposal through customary routes due to uncertainty about their age and condition.
