EPA Warns Clare Homeowners More Likely To Have Radon In Their Houses

The Environmental Protection Agency is warning Clare homeowners that houses in this county are far more likely to have a cancer-causing gas than other areas.

Radon is a carcinogenic, radioactive gas that is linked to 300 lung cancer cases in Ireland each year.

Last year, a number of Clare homes were found to have extremely high levels of radon, the highest of which had over 17 times the acceptable level.

Today, on World Radon Day, EPA scientist Alison Dowdall says Clare’s location means homeowners need to be particularly vigilant of the gas.
