There is confusion over the terms of the deal which has ended the threat of strike action and power cuts at ESB.
Last night, the Labour Relations Commission announced that the row over the company’s pension fund had been settled – with all pensions protected in a "defined benefit scheme".

That means the ESB would have to underwrite the scheme.
However, management says there will be no impact on the company’s balance sheet.
