Nine Clare primary schools have been given top marks by the European Union, with the awarding of a prestigious award.
Schools in Barefield, Fanore, Newmarket on Fergus, Querrin, Kilbaha, Shragh, Bodyke, Shannon and New Quay have been presented with EU Blue Star Awards, showing pupils’ knowledge of European Affairs is above a certain standard.

Clare has the highest amount of schools to have earned this honour of any county in 2012.
