A retired Limerick Prison Officer who lived in Clare has been jailed for ten years for the repeated rape of his daughter over a decade in what she described as their house of doom.
57 year old Harry Daly formerly of Lanna Lissycasey pleaded guilty to a sample from over 200 counts of rape, sexual assault and indecent assault
His daughter, waived her right to anonymity so her father could be named.
Harry Daly came forward to the Central Criminal Court on over 227 signed pleas of guilty from the District Court .
He began abusing his daughter when she was six years old at the family’s first home in Ballymun and it continued on a regular bases in their subsequent houses but ended when she moved out of the family home in Clare when she was seventeen in 1992
Daly’s wife stayed with him after their daughter disclosed the abuse.
In 1993 she returned to the house for a short time as her father had moved out to seek psychiatric help but She left again when her mother welcomed him back
In her victim impact statement the now 36 year old said she was sexually, emotionally and physically abused and while everyone got to play with their toys her father played his sick games with her
Mr Justice Paul Carney said the offences warrented a 15 year sentence but suspeded the final final years given his early guilty plea and expression of remorse.
The 57 year old who worked in the catering service at Limerick Prision for 26 years was also placed on the sex offenders
