A former Mayor of Ennis has described the latest drop in live register figures as a direct indication that efforts to increase employment in the the county are working.
Figures from the CSO show the number of people signing on in Clare has dropped by 6.3% in the past month, bringing the number of people claiming some form on unemployment to under 7,000 for the first time in almost five years.

10% of people in North Clare left the register in March, while in East Clare figures fell by 7.2%. West Clare saw a fall of 3.7% and in Ennis, there was a drop of 5.5%.
