Essem Eid was due to be released from Limerick Prison this week but has been remanded in custody pending the outcome of the High Court Case.
The 55 year old was expected to walk free from Limerick jail on Monday after serving his six year sentence for extortion after he demanded 100 thousand euro from Ennis businessman Robert Howard to cancel a contract on his life and that of his brother and father.
However the "hitman for hire" was arrested on Friday morning on foot of an extradition warrant and appeared before the High Court in Dublin.
He’s wanted by the State of California on charges of conspiracy, extortion and threatening to kill a man over 20 thousand euro during a phone call from Las Vegas to L.A
The matter is back before the High Court this morning whether further details in the case are likely to be heard including whether or not Eid will fight the extradition.
