Face Masks Advised As Phase One Of Easing Restrictions Gets Underway

Phase one of the roadmap to easing Ireland’s Covid-19 restrictions gets under way today.

Hardware stores, garden centres, electrical, IT and phone sales outlets will all reopen.

The number of new cases of Covid-19 reported yesterday was below 100 for the second day in a row, with 64 new cases confirmed – the lowest level since March, and ten more people died nationally.

No new cases have been recorded in Clare, leaving the total number this county at 314.

From today, everyone over the age of 13 is being advised to wear face masks in indoor public places like shops and public transport.

Lahinch GP Dr Michael Kelleher, who is a member of the Irish Medical Organisation’s GP committee, says it’s a welcome move but is warning that it’s no substitute for hand washing.
