The numbers arrested for suspected drink driving across Clare over the Saint Patrick’s Bank Holiday is down nearly 50 pecent on last year.
Figures from the head of the garda traffic corp in the Clare Garda Division show that 4 people were detained after being caught " over the limit" while behind the wheel of their car over the period Thursday to Sunday.
This is down from 7 over the corresponding weekend last year.

Gardai belive the reduction is down to increased awareness by motorists of the dangers of drink driving coupled with an increased garda presence and a long standing media campaign.
