Family Of CF Sufferer Who Passed Away Call For Greater Access To Revolutionary Drug

The family of a young woman who passed away from Cystic Fibrosis earlier this year is calling for greater access to a revolutionary drug to fight the disease.

21-year-old Sligo native Grainne Golden – who had strong family connections to West Clare and spent much of her childhood in Cree – lost her battle against the disease in February.

Shortly before her passing, Grainne was one of 35,000 people who signed an online petition, calling on the the HSE to negotiate a deal for use of the 'game-changing' drug Orkambi and one of her last requests to her family was to continue that fight.

Her mother Terri Golden says Grainne's last wish was that other CF sufferers would receive the treatment she was not able to access.
