Father Of Ennis Newborn Saved By Gardai Thanks All Involved

The father of a Kilmaley baby whose life was saved by quick-thinking Gardai has thanked all of those who came to the aid of his son.

Baby Michael Custy, the son of Brian Custy and Patrice Hickey, was being rushed to hospital by his family, who called ahead for Gardai to meet them as the already-ill infant turned blue.

They were met on the N18 by Gardai Niamh Kennelly and Paul Baynham, from Mayorstone Garda Station.  Garda Baynham put his training as an Emergency Medical Technician to use as he cleared the 17-day old’s airway before he was brought to University Hospital Limerick.

The infant is now doing well.
