Fears 2013 season could be scuppered if government stalls on Shannon Independence

It’s feared Clare could lose out on the huge economic boost expected from "The Gathering" if the future of Shannon Airport remains in limbo for much longer.

Various interest groups across the Mid West including Chambers of Commerce, Councillors and Hoteliers are putting pressure on the government to take swift action in separating Clare’s International Airport from the DAA.

Transport Minister Leo Varadkar has indicated that recommendations from the various steering groups established to oversee the autonomy of Shannon, will be made by the end of the year.

However Ennis Hotelier Paul Madden – who’s part of the Clare Tourism Forum , inists thats simply too late for them
