Fears Expressed That Agricultural Land Will Flood In Doonbeg

Fears have been expressed that agricultural land in Doonbeg will become submerged in sea water if coastal protection measures aren't put in place.

Donald Trump's Doonbeg Golf Resort has sought planning permission to put a three kilometre wall of boulders weighing 200,000 tonnes in place at Doughmore beach.

The golf course suffered substantial damage during last year's winter storms and there's concerns that it could lose up to 100 metres of ground at certain points by 2050.

A public exhibition of the planned works is continuing today at the nearby community hall in Doonbeg. General Manager Joe Russell says local are worried about the future of their land.
