There are fears the beginning of major works to repair damaged flood defences, communities and roads along Clare’s coastline could be held up by delays outside of the county.
Clare County Council sent it’s 24 million euro estimate of damage to the Department of the Environment on Friday, and is now awaiting a response as to how much money it will be allocated.
However, it’s feared the process may not run to schedule if other counties are not as quick to prepare their own estimates of damage.
Mayor of Clare Councillor Joe Arkins is seeking a meeting with the Minister in charge of the Office of Public Works Brian Hayes to outline the pressing need for money here.
