It’s feared the Clare Garda could see their fleet of marked cars reduced to just four, unless the government invests in replacements for decommissioned vehicles.
In Clare alone, 8 marked patrol cars for uniform gardai have been decommissioned and not replaced in recent times, having reached their maximum recommended distance of 300,000 kilometres.

That leaves 13 marked cars patrolling the county, but nine of those are within 50,000 kilometres of being taken of the road.
Clare Fianna Fail TD Timmy Dooley is calling on the Justice Minister Alan Shatter to take action.
