There’s growing concern for the future 3 public Clare Nursing homes as the government indicates its seeking to close down dozens of elderly care facilities nationwide.
Earlier this week Health Minister James Reilly indicated that 40 nursing home closures could be on the cards with fears now for services at Raheen Community Hospital in Tuamgraney as well as HSE run facilities in Ennistymon and Regina House in Kilrush.
Raheen is already operating at reduced capacity after the HSE shut-down five short stay beds at the East Clare facility in September.
