Fears for dozens of Shannon jobs

 

It’s feared up to forty jobs could be lost from St Andrews Insurance Group in Shannon after the company confirmed one of its contracts with a third party has not been renewed.

The firm which is a registered name for Halifax Insurance which is part of Lloyd’s Banking Group, currently employs over 300 people at it’s base in East Park,

A spokesman for the company has told Clare FM that they have briefed colleagues in Shannon and are currently assessing the impact of the loss of the contract but has no further details

Around 20 staff were let go from St Andrews in July, after its parent group Lloyd’s Banking Group said it would no longer be involved in the payment protection insurance market.

Mayor of Shannon Tony Mulcahy says this latest news will hit local employment levels hard.
