It’s feared new management structures governing hospitals in the MidWest could lead to a ‘raid’ on the funding of community healthcare services in Clare.
Ann Doherty was recently appointed as CEO to five health facilities in the region including Ennis General and Limerick Regional, but the Impact trade union is concerned that funding will be diverted to front-line services rather than primary care teams in order to make the plan successful
The trade union is calling for beds at Ennis and Nenagh hospitals to be opened to ease the strain at Dooradoyle, but Assistant General Secretary Andy Pike fears a stopgap solution could be sought elsewhere.
